What river do y’all float down?
We float the San Marcos river, a natural spring fed river located in San Marcos, TX.
How long does the entire day last?
River trips will last approximately 6 to 7 hours total, which includes the trip to and from San Marcos, floating time, and loading/unloading. This can vary depending on weather, traffic, and float conditions.

Do your buses have air-conditioning?
YES! Our buses are equipped with air conditioning for a comfortable ride to and from the river.

We have an 18+ policy on our trips.

What if the weather is bad or it rains?

Frequently asked questions about River tubing with Frontera tours
Is there parking available?
We recommend using a ridehare to the Visitor Center, but there is garage parking available for $15 for the day.

Doesn't Texas have some weird liquor/beer laws?
We sure do! Only on Sundays, beer and wine sales do not begin until 10:00am and liquor is not sold at all. Make sure you plan ahead if you are floating on a Sunday!

What about this "can-ban" I've heard about?
The San Marcos river section that we float is NOT affected by the San Marcos "can-ban", so cans are still totally fine to bring. We do provide multiple red mesh trash bags for each group to use while floating.

Do you sell beer?
All trips are BYOB and we do not sell any alcohol.

Should I bring my own cooler?
Please do not bring your own cooler, we will provide coolers for you as well as ice.

What should we wear?
Arrive in comfortable attire, shirts and swimwear on or underneath your clothes as there is no private place to change once the trip begins. Once at the river, any clothes you do not wish to float with will be left secure on the bus. Flip flops or river shoes are encouraged, but not necessary.

Should we bring our phones?
We know you want those sweet photos commemorating your trip, and we don't blame you! We do advise that your phone be in a waterproof case and you tie it to yourself, your cooler, or your tube. Also, to minimize risk we generally advise that only one or two people in your group take their phones, and photos can be shared after. With that said, a gentle reminder that the river will take what it wants and accidents with valuables happen often out on the water.

What do we do with our valuables while we float?
We have a lock-box secured on our bus while you float. Our bus driver will be with the bus for the duration of the float as well. We highly recommend taking advantage of the lock box and not floating with anything that cannot be lost.

Can we stop for food or drinks on the way?
Please come with all of your snacks and beverages, as we do not stop on the way to the river or on the way back.

We’ve never been on a river float, what if we get lost?
Our river guides will be with y’all every step of the way. We will load and ice your coolers, answer any questions you have and explain what to expect on the day. We will take care of the organization and nitty gritty details of the day while floating with you and making sure everyone is having a great time!
